DNA and Origins

Riddle: what is invisible to the naked eye, made apparent in this action, and a key molecule in life cycles on Earth? The invisible made visible in the painting Antarctica (above) is a piece of DNA code that human presence has introduced to microbes in Antarctica. In the painting, the codons of the gene are encoded in orientations and colors of the triangles. A direct reading is obscured and the focus shifts from the particular gene to the fact that DNA is an information system. All life on Earth is based on the same genetic code and scientists keep discovering connections in space and time facilitated by DNA. The paintings in this series reflect on the origins and propagation of life, what is life, how did life first arise, how is life connected.
