I love experiencing sunrise: being up at this time feels like a battery charging. At this time, elements appear individually. Suddenly, a certain plant becomes visible, or the color of the sky shifts. It is a very dynamic time. My new series Sunrise is all about this special time, both intuitively and intellectually. Purple Haze Before Dawn, for example, brings together earth and sky: the dark green border evokes the woods and ground of the Frohnau landscape, while the pale purple-blue captures the first color emerging in the sky as the day approaches.
