The Whole is Elsewhere

Sometimes what is missing isn't another piece of information. It is another way of looking. The Whole is Elsewhere begins with this idea, bringing together 25 paintings from several of Kauppila’s ongoing series. The works move between lived experiences of nature, movement, and light and ideas drawn from mathematics and science. Again and again, individual parts come together and something appears that cannot be found in the parts alone.
