Shimmer and Beyond
Shimmer is a series of five paintings that I made in 2014 - 2015 inspired by the reflections of light on water. I was also exploring color surround-effects and fascinated by the effects of layers and the voluminous impasto base-layer. In 2019 I extended this technique and incorporated encoded pieces of DNA. In this broader sense, the series is ongoing. Each painting has its own story, and all newer work combine a science story with one about an immediate color experience.
